Problem
Polkadot’s site was serving insiders and alienating everyone else. Technical jargon dominated every page, navigation felt like a maze, and newcomers needed a decoder just to understand the basics – while builders who actually needed resources couldn’t find them either. For an ecosystem built on genuinely important ideas, the website was more of a barrier than a gateway.
Every page of Polkadot
spoke a different visual language.
Approach
The redesign started at the structural level: a complete overhaul of the site’s navigation, built around a small number of clear entry points instead of the tangle of sub-pages newcomers used to get lost in. Underneath that sat a new, unified design system — replacing the inconsistent, page-by-page patchwork with one coherent visual language applied across the entire site.

The system came to life through a mix of disciplines: new custom illustrations (created by our graphic designer) gave the ecosystem a warmer, more approachable face instead of the clinical, technical look it had before, and a new style of explainer video (built by our motion designer) took the site’s most complex concepts – the kind that used to require a computer science background to follow – and made them watchable in a minute or two instead of a wall of text.
